Ratham or Chariot Rangoli

Rangoli-431

Rangoli-431

Dots are easy to count. Dots for these type of Rangolis depend upon the shape of Rangoli. We can enlarge it by  adding more dots appropriately keeping the shape intact.

Rangoli-391

Lotus Rangoli

This is my first Rangoli for the season. So let us start with the auspicious symbol  Lotus.

Rangoli-391

21 to 1 Straight Dots. This is quite easy to draw.

I am looking forward to this season with lots of hope and enthusiasm. Because of the troubling times we are facing now, we have to forgo so many things and life is not what it was. But still we have to adjust ourselves to the current situation and try our best.

NOTE:

Rangoli-358

5X5 Chain Rangolis

The traditional Chain or Mellika muggulu are all time favorites, whether during the festival season or for every day rangolis.

Here are some small Rangolis. Chain Rangolis.

Rangoli-358-Chain Rangoli 5X5

These are 5X5 blocks and can be expanded as per our requirement. These are very easy to draw and can fit small places. Same design can be repeated or one or more designs can be combined for bigger Rangolis.

If you want to colour them. It is better to sprinkle the colour (single or more colours in a square shape) first, then put dots on them and draw the Rangoli. Colouring after the pattern is drawn can be a bit more cumbersome.

Watch out for more.

Rangoli-299

Ratham Or Chariot Rangoli

Here is a chariot or Ratham Rangloi. You can note the dots from the design above. I have drawn it as Navaratna Ratham-the chariot studded with nine types of gems. In the center, I have drawn a chair for the Lord to sit and a lamp too.

Sorry for posting so late. I was so busy today.

This is drawn on Kanuma(third day of festival) and also on Mukkanuma(fourth day). On Kanuma(3rd day), the chariot is drawn entering into the house. It has come to pick up the Lord who has visited us during the festival. On the 4th day, the chariot is drawn going out of the house. That is the Lord is seated in the chariot and is leaving us and going off to his place. A string (a line) is drawn from the chariot on to the road as far as possible, as if it being pulled away. Usually it is linked with the chariot drawn by the neighbor. This way chariots of one is linked to the other.

Hope you like it. Watch out I may post some more tomorrow.

Pongal-Sankranti Special

21- 7 times(in the center) to 7 straight dots.

Kites, Pongali Pots, sugarcane, Gobbilu (pyramid shaped mounds made of cow dung- decorated with pumpkin flowers, placed in the center of Rangolis), red jujube berries(read more in the link below) and colourful rangolis reflect the festive spirit. Hence I have used all those elements in my Rangoli.

Hope you like this Rangoli....watch out for more...

Rangoli-274

Vara Lakshmi Vratam Special

This is 21 dots-3 rows to 3- straight dots. I have kept it very simple and easy. Hope you like it.

The Kalasam (pot with mango leaves and coconut) is used in the Vratam or ritual. So I drew that. The pots can be coloured using free flowing colours or coloured sand. The rest of the Rangoli can be drawn directly using coloured powders/sand, instead of drawing and filling up it with colours, to save time.

I have used yellow, green, orange red and terracotta colours as this is an auspicious occasion. However, a touch of blue has been given, to break the brightness of the other colours.

I kept it simple because, I don't want to spend much time on the Rangoli tomorrow. There is lots and lots to be done in the kitchen(cooking, sweets, savories and other snacks) and also the Puja. The decoration of the Goddess Lakshmi itself takes so much time. It is ok, if there are other women or girls in the house to help. But doing all this single handedly is tiresome. This requires, lots of energy and time. Though I have created elaborate and big designs, I posted this, as I feel it is difficult to draw these on the D-Day as there will be no time.

Wishing you all a happy Vara Lakshmi Vratam and I pray that all of us and our families are blessed by the Goddess with, Health Wealth, Peace, Prosperity and Happiness.....

Rangoli-208

Dasara Special

From tomorrow the NavaRatri/Navaratra meaning 9 nights start. During these days we pray to Mother Goddess Adi ParaShakti or Bhavani  in her various forms- Bala Tripura Sundari, Lalitha, Durga, Kaali, Gayatri, Lakhsmi, Saraswati, Mahishasura Mardhini and so on. The 10th day is celebrated as Vijaya Dashami- victory or triumph of Good over Bad.

Well I am going to post some Rangolis I created specially for this occasion.
This is 21 to 1 straight dots. I chose lotuses as these are dear to the Mother. So let us welcome Simha Vahini(riding on a lion) Mata Rani and lay the carpet of lotuses for Her  inviting Her into our homes....
